Conventional, synthetic blend, or full synthetic — with a look underneath while the car is on the lift.
Pads, rotors, calipers, lines, and fluid. If the pedal feels wrong, bring it in before it gets worse.
We read the code, then find the cause. A code tells you where to look — not what to replace.
Two counters, two clocks
We're a gas station and a repair shop at the same address, so it's worth knowing which one you need before you drive over.
State inspection stickers are first come, first served. Come early on Saturdays — the line builds fast.
Regular, mid-grade, premium, and diesel. Early drop-off is available before the bays open.
Why people keep coming back
None of that is inevitable. It's just what happens when a shop treats you as a transaction instead of a neighbor who'll be back in six months.
You get a call with what we found, what it costs, and what happens if you wait. Then you decide. Nothing gets done that you didn't approve.
Plenty of shops replace whatever part the scanner points at. If you've got a noise nobody can place, a light that keeps coming back, or a dealer estimate that doesn't add up, that's the work we like most. And if a job genuinely belongs somewhere else, we'll tell you where to take it.
We're a licensed Massachusetts safety and emissions inspection station, open for stickers Monday through Saturday. No appointment needed — it's first come, first served, and most people are out in well under half an hour.
Remodeled, with free Wi-Fi, a TV, and a coffee bar. If you'd rather not wait, Coolidge Square is right outside the door — breakfast, lunch, and a bakery all within a block.
We've been the shop on Mt. Auburn Street for more than 25 years. The techs have seen most problems before, and there's almost always a lift free when you need one.
About us
For more than 25 years we've been the shop on Mt. Auburn Street — a family-owned business that fills tanks, writes inspection stickers, and rebuilds brakes for the same customers year after year. Some of them have been coming since they were kids in the back seat.
The reason is simple. Honest advice, work that holds up, and a service manager who picks up the phone. That's the whole model, and it hasn't needed changing.

Dave M.Yelp review, May 2025
I get all my repairs here. Like everyone says: Paul is such an decent honest guy. Totally trustworthy mechanic in a sea of other less- trustworthy crooks. Always gives me a fair price, never does extra work I dont need.... fixes the problems correctly the first time. And very accomodating too.”
